Can you substitute pumpkin pie mix for pumpkin puree?

Only if you add extra ingredients to the pumpkin puree. The pie mix is the pumpkin puree, and has added spices like cinnamon, clove, allspice, and ginger, and either sugar or sweetener.

Why is my pumpkin bread raw in the middle?

  • Try turning the oven temperature down and place some foil over the top loosely so the top won’t burn.
  • Another reason could be the size of pan you are using. Make sure you use the size of the dish that is called for in the recipe. If you have to use a different size baking dish, adjust the temperature or time you bake it.
  • Your proportions may be off. More liquid may have been used than the recipe called for.

Why does my pumpkin bread not rise for my pumpkin pie bread?

  • Your oven temperature may be off. You can check this by buying an oven thermometer and turning the oven on. See if the temperature on the thermometer is the same as what you set the oven on.
  • Another reason could be the size of pan you are using. Make sure you use the size of the dish that is called for in the recipe. If you have to use a different size baking dish, adjust the temperature or time you bake it.

  25. Hi Bobbie, I want you to know, I made your bread, it was delicious, one piece left, it didn’t last long. I only made one adjustment and that was to reduce the sugar by half, my husband is diabetic so we watch that. Now I see PB cookies? I need to check those out. Thanks for coming by, glad you did to share your recipes!!

Have a great evening, Happy Fall!!
