Mozzarella Cheese Hearts

Aren’t these Mozzarella Cheese Hearts the cutest? I know your kids and spouses would love them. You could also make these, a tad bit healthier than candy, for a classroom party. This easy recipe is made using Crescent dough, filled with Mozzarella cheese and Parmesan sprinkled on top. To top it off, they’re baked, not fried. Dip them in a Marinara sauce or even Ranch dressing.

Mozzarella Cheese Hearts

I typically make nothing but sweets for Valentine’s Day. It’s just my norm.  Plus, have you ever noticed at the stores, in their “current holiday” section, it’s pretty much just sweets?  So, I decided to add a slightly healthier choice.  I know diabetics have to watch their sugar, but there are others that make a conscious effort not to eat a bunch of food with sugar.  The only sugar you have to worry about here is what they use in the crescent dough. However, I can’t say that about the rest of my recipes for Valentine’s Day. They are filled with sugar. Holidays give us an excuse for eating sweets, right?

These were one of the few that I ate more than just testing to make sure it turned out, tasted good.

Is Mozzarella cheese heart healthy?

Technically, No. But Mozzarella is up there with some of the “healthiest” cheeses.  It is lower in sodium and calories that most of the other cheeses.

Some of the other “healthier” cheeses are….

  • Blue Cheese
  • Feta
  • Cottage Cheese
  • Ricotta
  • Parmesan
  • Swiss
  • Cheddar
  • Goat

  2. These are super cute! And look delicious. I’m not sure I’d list feta as a “healthier” cheese though. It has enough salt to turn your mouth into a desert. But oh man is it ever good. :p

    • Thanks. Yeah, as far as the Feta cheese, I linked where I got the info. I think they list it as one of the healthier ones that is lower in calories.

Thanks so much for stopping by!!
Hope you have a great day!
