How do you make chicken nuggets from scratch?
There are many choices when it comes to making homemade chicken nuggets. You could dredge the small chunks of chicken through a flour mixture, egg, flour, then fry. Or, coat the chicken with milk, then flour. Omit the milk and eggs, and just use flour. In this homemade chicken nuggets recipe, I use a batter. The batter is made from Bisquick and milk. Other batters are similar in that they use flour, milk, and/or eggs. Tempura batter is awesome too!
What do you eat with chicken nuggets?
French fries, macaroni and cheese, broccoli or other veggies are great sides. Chicken nuggets also go great with mashed potatoes and gravy. Sometimes, I eat mine in a salad.
What is the most popular sauce for chicken nuggets?
Honey mustard happens to be the most popular that I can find. However, Ranch dressing, ketchup and gravy are great sauces, as well.
Sides to make with your chicken nuggets…
- Loaded Homemade Mashed Potatoes
- White Shells and Cheese
- Southern Macaroni Salad
- Creamy Cheesy Rice
- Peppered Gravy

Biscuit Battered Chicken Nuggets
Equipment
- Deep Fryer/4-6 quart pot
Ingredients
- 3 lbs Chicken Breast, cut in chunks
- 2 1/4 Cup Bisquick
- 2 Cup Milk
- 6 Cups Cooking Oil
- Salt & Pepper To Taste
Instructions
- Preheat oil to 350°.
- Mix Bisquick, milk, salt and pepper in a large bowl.
- Cut chicken into nugget size pieces.
- Place chicken in bowl with batter mix.
- Place a batch in the deep fryer and fry for about 3 minutes. If you have a basket, you might want to drop the basket before putting the chicken in. The batter will cook/stick to the basket. Yup…I learned that the hard way. **Repeat until all your chicken is fried. It took me 4 batches.
- Place on paper towels to absorb grease. To avoid the crust becoming soft, place chicken on a rack with paper towels underneath.
