When I eat turkey bacon, it’s just not the same.  My first problem is that it’s not as crispy.  I was having this conversation with my oldest daughter one day and she showed me how to make it crispier AND have a little better of a flavor.  Oil.  That’s the trick.  All you have to do is drizzle a little olive oil on the turkey bacon as it’s cooking and it will be crispier than it normally is.

  1. I usually use turkey bacon because I don’t like greasy bacon. I baked a tray of turkey bacon in oven which turned out crispy. Haven’t tasted it yet because I froze it for future. I didn’t use oil because I was going by a recipe for regular bacon. Bet putting on oil of choice can make a difference in the taste. Will try.

  2. Umm….This recipe literally emulsified the bacon. After 7 minutes on one side there was a big black oozy mess in my pan, nothing resembling meat – or anything even edible. It was creepy. I used avocado oil, btw.

    • All oils burn different, and sometimes, you have to adjust the heat setting or the length of time you are cooking it. Hope you have a chance to try it again and let me know how that turned out.

      Good luck!
And, thanks for stopping by to leave a comment.
      Have a great day!

Just tried this for the first time this morning…….It’s excellent ! There’s always been a battle in our house over crispy-vs-regular bacon as well as turkey-vs-regular bacon. I broiled it and it came out perfect.

Ummm yeah the baking burned mine black. I did it for 10 min one side flipped and 6 min the other and they were black.

    • Sorry they didn’t turn out the first try.

Ovens do cook differently. Maybe yours cooks hotter than mine? Have you tried again, but with less time? Were they cooked when you flipped them at 10 minutes?

Thanks for stopping by and letting me know. If I need to make a correction on the time in case others may have ovens like yours, I will.

  5. Why are you eating turkey bacon? The fat and calorie content are not that much different from pork bacon, so the added oil makes it higher in both than regular bacon. My sister eats it because it doesn’t have the gristle and fatty pieces, so this might be great for her, but for dieting, it is not really viable.

    • Some people don’t eat pork. Turkey bacon is an alternative to pork bacon. I don’t believe I state anything on the healthy/diet aspect in my post though.

It really depends on the oil that you use to determine “healthier” or not, in that respect. AND, the fat content of turkey bacon is lower than the fat content of pork bacon.

Appreciate your input and thanks for taking the time to stop by and comment.
Hope you have a great day!

    • I will try this tip. I eat it because allergic to pork. I miss crispy pork bacon from my youth. Thanks.

    • it tastes better
      you goober

  6. Thank you for this! I swore off turkey bacon until I came across this! I cooked it for a total of 11 minutes and it was perfect!! Thank you again!

  7. The oil and seasoning make turkey bacon a whole new ball game. I love avocado oil!

    • True that. I wasn’t turned on to avocado oil when I did that post. I use it as much as possible now.

Thanks for the comment and stopping by!!
      Have a great day!
