How do you know when Hawaiian dump cake is done?

The pecans will start to “burn”, or, turn dark brown to black, when it’s done.

Why is it called dump cake?

The ingredients are “dumped” into the dish. So, there is no mixing, stirring, beating, or blending done. Hence, dump and bake.

Can you freeze Hawaiian dump cake?

Freeze the Hawaiian dump cake after baking it. Individually wrap a piece/serving in an airtight container/baggie. Then, remove the cake from the freezer, and thaw in the refrigerator. Once thawed, remove it from the refrigerator, and let it come to room temperature. Then, heat, if desired.

Do you need to refrigerate a dump cake?

The cake will last up to 5 days being stored in the refrigerator. It lasts longer.

  1. Anyone, I dislike canned cherries. Any other ideas. Someone mentioned double pineapple or fruit salad cocktail or even peaches. What do you all think? Could I use bananas?

    • I think Peach Pie Filling would work as well. If you use pineapple, or fruit salad. Make sure to drain them. That extra juice could make it soggy. What about apple pie filling??

      Good luck!
