French Bread Dogs

What is the original pigs in a blanket?
The original pigs in a blanket was made with sausage or sausage meat in bread dough. Today we use hot dogs more often than sausage.
How do you keep pigs in a blanket from getting soggy?
Make sure to pat dry the hot dog/sausage before wrapping it with dough.
Can pigs in a blanket be assembled ahead of time?
Absolutely. You can put them together and either keep them in the fridge or freezer. If refrigerating, only keep in for 2 hours before cooking. If freezing, first let them freeze on a baking sheet. Then transfer to a baggie. They will last in the freezer 2-3 months.

Pigs in a blanket
Equipment
- 9 x 13 Baking Sheet
Ingredients
- 11 Oz Pillsbury French Bread, Refrigerated
- 6 Beef Hot Dogs, Bun Length Can use regular size
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°. Spray cookie sheet with cooking spray.
- Lay the dough out on a rolling sheet or wax paper.
- Flatten dough out. Use whatever method you prefer. I rolled mine with a pin. You want it twice the width and 1 1/2 times the length.
- Cut about 4-6 inch sections, depending on what size hot dog you use.
- Roll the dough around the hot dogs.
- Place on cookie sheet. Place fold side down (during baking it will unfold). Bake for 25-30 minutes or until light golden brown.
