Best Beans Yet

This are my best beans yet, hence the name. It’s been awhile since I had a good ole pot of beans. I had saved a ham bone from a previous meal and froze it. Just for this. I threw that puppy in with the beans and you won’t believe the flavor that comes out of it. Wowsers. You know what I think of when I make beans? That old little diddy we use to sing as kids….
Bean, beans the wonderful fruit. The more you eat the more you…….
Now you’re gonna be singing it for the rest of the day. Sorry.

So, if you’re making a bone-in ham for Christmas this year…..DON’T THROW THE BONE AWAY!! Use it and make you some.
Even though I used pinto, but you could use any type you want. From pinto to navy beans. Throw in the ham bone and some onions, a little bit of seasoning and let it cook. Your house will smell yummy after a bit.
And talk about a cheap meal. This really might come in handy after Christmas. You went and spent all that money on food, gifts and decorations and now you’re a little low on the funds. Make these to help you get out of the red.

I made a batch of Paula Deen’s Moist and Easy Cornbread (as of 08/28/20 the link no longer exists) to go with mine. The only adjustment I made was I added more sugar. I’m from the south and we like sweet cornbread. You should add up to 1/2 cup if you like.
What do you like to eat with your beans?
Here’s another thought – Slow Cooker Beans and Turkey Sausage
