SLOW COOKER Beans and Turkey Sausage

Beans and Turkey Sausage….a great combo of Great Northern Beans and turkey sausage.. They just seemed to go together perfectly. Everyone thinks that the slow cooker aka crock pot is best used in the fall and winter months, which is somewhat correct. But if you use your crock pot in the spring and summer months you are actually doing yourself a bigger favor. How? By not heating up your kitchen as much. Another bonus…..most meals cook for several hours. You could be out and about doing all the outdoor activities while your food is in the kitchen cooking. Just sayin’.

What you have to do…
All you have to do is soak your beans 3-4 hours or overnight. Then throw them and your spices in the slow cooker. Let them cook for 6 hours. Throw in your sausage. Ba bam! The prep time is nothing, it’s the cooking time. After I threw in my sausage, I started making my rice and cornbread. Worked out perfectly, time wise.

You can serve these with rice and cornbread like I did. Or you could use these as a side dish. If you do use these as a side dish, the serving amount will be different. Keep that in mind.
How do you eat your beans?
