Cheeseburger Toast

Know what’s great about this Cheeseburger Toast?  They can be appetizers, snacks or a meal.  I had this come to me one day.  Yes, I have some weird cravings and no, I’m not pregnant. Too old for that.

I ran to the grocery store one day to get a couple of other things and it hit me as I was walking past the bakery and saw the french bread.  It called my name.  Have you ever had that happened?  It wasn’t on my list, wasn’t on my mind. It was in my line of sight and silently called “Hey You. Yeah You. You need to buy and eat me!”.

So, I grabbed the bread and the next thing that came to my mind was cheeseburger.  I thought to myself, I don’t want a hamburger patty on this.  Then I answered myself (yes, I do that quite often lately), you don’t have to have a patty. Ba-bing.  Idea was born, right there, in the store.

How to make the Cheeseburger Toast..

To make this, I browned the hamburger meat, and seasoned it a little.  Then added some shredded cheese to it.  I sliced the bread and laid it out on the baking sheet.  Placed some sliced onions on the bread and piled the hamburger meat/cheese mixture on top.  Threw it in the oven.  All of it took less than 20 minutes.

You could add so much more to these if you wanted.  You could add some peppers.  Maybe throw a tomato or some lettuce on top after you heat it.  You could toast the bread first, then add some mustard or mayo, then some onions, tomatoes and lettuce, then the meat/cheese mixture.  The possibilities are endless with these. Brilliant.

I ate these as a meal.  Had 2 of them.  But you could so eat this as a snack like I did the next day. Or, you could make these for an appetizer.  Maybe even cut them in halves or quarters.

How would you eat these?
