Toasted Hot Dogs

My Mom is visiting and when I asked her what she wanted for lunch one day, she chose Toasted Hot Dogs. She use to make these for my sisters, brother and I when we were young and we loved them. Still do. It’s a real quick way to make a lot of hot dogs at once. What’s different about these is the bread gets toasted in the oven and you have a nice little crisp to the bread instead of a soft bun or bread.
After they’re toasted, all that needs to be done is dress them with whatever your family or guests want. Set up a little “Hot Dog Bar” and let them grab one and add what they want, then chow down. Real easy food for outdoor gatherings or indoor. Works both ways.

All you have to do is heat/cook the hot dog the way you like it. I actually made two batches of these, but the recipe below only includes one batch of eight. If you have more people to feed, just double it like I did.
After the hot dog is cooked the way you like, throw it on some bread with cheese, or no cheese. Your call. Then fold it over and pop it in the oven. Great thing about these is I didn’t use my big oven. I used a toaster oven. Kept from heating my kitchen up as much when it was already in the 90’s outside. Yuck.

Broil or Toast ’em
You can either broil these or toast them…and for however long you want. I like just a little bit of crisp, so I didn’t cook mine as long, but you can cook yours longer for a darker toast. See how versatile these are. Make them your way.
How will you make yours?
